«Sports bring out pure emotions, and shared experiences connect us. Our engagement in multiple areas shows that we take this seriously and offer our customers more than the competition. MySports is a success story. Exclusive content and emotion-triggering entertainment bring a lot of added value. Together with our TV offers, MySports contributes significantly to the selection available to our customers and to their loyalty. And thanks to our combined expertise in telecommunications and TV, we will stand out from our competitors even more starkly in the future with completely new fan and viewer experiences,» says André Krause, CEO of Sunrise UPC, summarizing the strategic importance of MySports.
A significantly expanded presence in sports
With the existing involvement of Roger Federer, as the new main partner of Swiss-Ski starting in the 2022/2023 season and thanks to a collaboration with the Athletes Network (athletes-network.com), Sunrise UPC has significantly expanded its presence in sports recently. With the 5G Smart Stadium as part of its partnership with FC Basel, Sunrise UPC is breaking new ground to further develop the fan experience. These and other innovations can be carried over to other sports, such as ice hockey. Sunrise UPC aims to redefine how MySports viewers enjoy sports, leveraging possibilities in telecommunications over the next five years.
By extending its media partnership with the National League, MySports will remain the undisputed «Home of Hockey». Viewers will now be actively involved, and in addition to match reports, MySports will above all impart emotions and reveal exclusive inside views. New formats are being developed and existing ones expanded. Sunrise UPC is just a slapshot away from the start of the season and guarantees great excitement - far beyond the hockey arena. MySports is also working to obtain hockey rights for additional international competitions to expand its offer for hockey fans in Switzerland even further.
At the start of its fifth season, MySports will reach more viewers than ever before. This is thanks to its distribution by UPC and the cable networks of the Suissedigital association as founding members of MySports, and now in the meantime also via blue TV, as part of the Sunrise TV offer and with the Sky app.
«BackCheck - the Talk»: new format with great emotions and passion
Sports are much more than just sober facts, match analyses and final scores. That is why MySports is focusing more on the emotional experience at its studios (Erlenbach, ZH and Rossens, FR). With the new «BackCheck - the Talk» broadcast format, a lot of heart and soul will be added to the sports coverage. Moderators, experts, players, club managers, and above all, fans will have their say and talk about the highlights of the games. All of this will also be streamed online via Twitch and YouTube at the same time, so that everyone has the opportunity to listen and get involved. This completely new approach to the sports experience is only available with MySports.
eNational League, social media and podcasts
MySports is focusing on alternative formats in the upcoming hockey season as well and expanding them further. The eNational League is taking place again this year. The second edition of the virtual hockey championship with the participation of all 13 current National League clubs will start in October.
Fans can enjoy continuous updates with the latest news from the scene via various social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter. The popular podcast «PUCK OFF» will showcase surprise guests from the Swiss hockey scene to over 1,500 listeners who tune in for every episode, with weekly highlights that have sometimes more and sometimes less to do with ice hockey. «PUCK OFF» has also launched its own merchandising line for fans. Stylish hoodies will beavailable for sale in the MySports merchandising store shop.mysports.ch from 7 September. The range of products will be expanded further.
Homemade documentaries: «Willkomma Jann» at the start of the new season
Popular and ambitious homemade documentaries will remain a fixed part of MySports programming, offering lots of exciting looks into what goes on behind the scenes in the Swiss sports scene. The first homemade documentary of the current season features the new MySports anchor Jann Billeter. The three-part documentary shows how the editorial team is immersing Jann in the world of hockey and how he learns a lot of new things from the experts around him. The premiere of the first part of «Willkomma Jann» will be aired on Sunday, 5 September, 2021, starting at 20:15 on MySports One.
Starting with the launch of the season on 7 September, Jann Billeter will guide MySports viewers through the program for the first time. The experienced TV personality has already contributed his ideas to the new and expanded MySports formats and will continue to work intensivly on making MySports - the home of hockey - a 360° experience for fans, both on- and offline.
