The Board of Directors of COMET Holding AG will be proposing to the company's Annual General Meeting on April 21, 2016 in Berne the election of Dr. Mariel Hoch to the Board of Directors and to the Compensation Committee, replacing Hans Leonz Notter, who is no longer standing for election. Dr. Hoch (b. 1973) is a Swiss citizen who graduated from the University of Zurich as a Dr. iur. in 2003 and was called to the bar in 2005. She is a Partner in the law firm Bär & Karrer AG in Zurich. Since the very start of her professional career, she has dealt with issues of business law and now primarily advises listed companies on almost all matters ranging from M&A transactions to stock exchange and company law. The COMET Group will able to draw on Dr. Hoch's knowledge and experience of legal matters. At Bär & Karrer, she is also involved in personnel management and will also be able to put her expertise in this area at the service of the Compensation Committee of COMET Holding AG.
The Board of Directors of COMET Holding AG will also be proposing to the company's Annual General Meeting 2016 the election of Dr. Franz Richter as an additional member of the Board of Directors. Dr. Richter (b. 1955) is a German national and graduated as a Dr. Ing. from the University of Aachen in 1990. Following scientific posts with the Carl Zeiss Group and the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology, he spent 14 years working for the German company Süss Microtec, the last six of them as its CEO. After serving as President of Semiconductor Equipment at Unaxis (now OC Oerlikon) in Switzerland, he set up Thin Materials GmbH in Germany and became its CEO. Among his other current commitments, he sits on the board of directors of the Swiss Meyer Burger Technology AG in Thun. Dr. Richter's career has taken him to various countries, where he has specialized in technology management issues, especially in the semiconductor industry, where he is considered as being a leading expert. The COMET Group will be able to benefit from his in-depth knowledge of plasma control and wide experience of international management as it addresses many technological issues and questions relating to applications.
The Board has come to the conclusion that the increasing complexity of the COMET Group and of its main market segments justifies its election of an additional member from 2016 onwards. The Board sees it as important that the need for expertise in business law should continue to be met and also that the COMET Group should be able to access additional know-how and expertise in its rapidly growing Plasma Control segment. It is pleased to have found two experienced experts, both of whom are ideally suited to meeting these goals.
