The use of computed tomography is on the rise for non-destructive testing of materials, not only for finding defects but also for high-precision measurement. Close cooperation between YXLON and Hexagon Metrology is intended to address this customer need by combining YXLON’s strengths in X-ray and CT systems with those of Hexagon in the metrology field. Both partners are contributing many years of experience in dimensional and X-ray metrology. An initial demonstration of the potential of the YXLON-Hexagon Metrology partnership will be presented at CONTROL 2015, the world’s leading trade fair for quality assurance, in Stuttgart.
“By joining forces we will enable our customers to bring non-destructive testing (NDT) and metrology closer together, whether in R&D, quality assurance, process control or process validation,” said Stefan Moll, President X-Ray Systems and General Manager at YXLON International. “With our knowledge of smart CT and X-ray imaging in NDT and Hexagon Metrology’s industrial metrology experience, we truly have the resources to design the right solution for every customer and implement it efficiently.”
Angus Taylor, Hexagon Metrology’s President & CEO – North America, explained: “Our intention is to collaborate on new solutions for manufacturing, combining the strengths of Hexagon Metrology measurement software and verification tools with YXLON International’s advanced X-ray and CT inspection systems. These new solutions will provide the cutting-edge measurement capabilities needed in the production of complex components and assemblies not previously possible.”
