Gabriele Viebach confirmed as new head of Emerging IT at Diplomatic Council

The Diplomatic Council (DC, www.diplomatic-council.org) has confirmed top manager Gabriele Viebach as new Director of the Emerging Information Technology Group within the Global Leadership Forum. The council of international ambassadors leading the DC has unanimously decided to accept the internationally renowned technological visionary into the Board of Directors. She will be responsible for managing new fields of application of information technology within the global think tank. Viebach will not only deal with technological feasibility, but also with economic and social effects. On behalf of diplomats from more than 50 nations, the new Director will develop the Global Digital Agenda of the Diplomatic Council. It will be built on the knowledge that digitalisation will alter the course of history in the same way the industrial revolution once did.

"Gabriele Viebach is a visionary, a strategist and an entrepreneur in one person", comments Hang Nguyen, Secretary General of the Diplomatic Council, on the new addition to the top committee of the global think tank. "She has the ability to spot the 'next big thing' as soon as it appears on the horizon and to develop a far reaching business vision on that basis. In addition, she has the talent to inspire people to give their very best in order for the vision to become reality. We are glad to see that Gabriele Viebach will bring her unique abilities into her honorary work with the Diplomatic Council", says Hang Nguyen.

Gabriele Viebach began her career within Corporate Business Development at T-Mobile and continued her tenure at Excelon, BEA Systems and British Telecom. At eZ Systems she was able to attain global attention by inducing a notable paradigm shift within the content management industry. Knowing that publishing in the digital age is transcending the media industry and increasingly becoming mainstream, she enhanced a conventional content management system (CMS) to become a comprehensive customer experience management system (CXM). Meanwhile, almost the entire publishing industry has adapted this trend. In addition to her service with the Diplomatic Council, Gabriele Viebach is currently helming the global topic "cloud billing/cloud business process optimisation" within the top management of the company Pactas. Online payment will play a pivotal role in the establishment of digital business models and will increasingly become part of the mainstream. "The global size of the market for cloud billing will exceed the 10 billion Euro mark within the next five years", predicts Gabriele Viebach. This equals an annual growth of more than 30 percent.

With its Global Digital Agenda the Diplomatic Council is aiming to guarantee that all parts of society will equally benefit from the growth which has been triggered by digitalization. Gabriele Viebach offers an example for the goals of the Emerging Information Technology Group within the Diplomatic Council: By combining customer experience management, cloud billing and mobile computing, even small entrepreneurs from emerging nations can participate in the global market, since modern smartphones allow "global reach" for everyone. It will also be possible to achieve a lasting leverage effect by forming huge communities with small amounts. Viebach strives to fill her new role with meaning and foresight.

The Diplomatic Council (www.diplomatic-council.org), headquartered in The Hague, is a Global Think Tank which follows the principles of the Charter of the United Nations. As members the Diplomatic Council welcomes not solely diplomats but also personalities from economy and society. It has established global forums in order to address topics with international significance such as Logistics, Healthcare, Information Technology, Media and Marketing.
