Constantin Medien continues its positive development in the first half of 2016

- Sales increase by 34.9 percent to EUR 264.0 million

- Group EBIT improved by 13.4 percent to EUR 11,0 million

- Group net profit increased by EUR 1.2 million to EUR 1.0 million

- Earnings attributable to shareholders affected by divestments in the

first quarter 2016

- Expectations for the 2016 full-year unchanged

Ismaning, August 11, 2016 - Constantin Medien Group continued the positive operating trend from the previous year in the first half of 2016 and confirms the full-year guidance.

- Group sales of the media company stood at EUR 264.0 million, an increase of 34.9 percent against the same period last year (HY1 2015: EUR 195.7 million) due to a strong growth in the Segments Film as well as Sports- and Event-Marketing.

- Profit from operations (EBIT) increased to EUR 11.0 million after EUR 9.7 million in the same period last year (+13.4 percent).

- By period comparison Group net profit (profit after taxes) improved by EUR 1.2 million to EUR 1.0 million (HY1 2015: EUR -0.2 million). Earnings attributable to shareholders included therein amounted to EUR -1.4 million (HY1 2015: EUR -0.3 million) including losses of EUR 0.8 million resulting from streamlining the Group portfolio in the first quarter 2016 (especially the sale of companies of the former Segment Other Business Activities).

Segment performance in the first half of 2016

- In the Segment Sports the SPORT1 platforms continued to achieve very good coverage and access figures in the first six months. In particular, the access figures in the mobile area and the video views developed clearly positive. Despite the strong competition from the UEFA EURO 2016(TM) in June, with 1.6 percent the market share of the free-TV channel in the core target group men aged 14 to 49 years remained at constant level from January to June compared to the previous-year period. Segment sales of EUR 75.6 million were slightly below the previous year's figure (HY1 2015: EUR 76.0 million), amongst others due to decreased sales from interactive programm slots and because sales from new customer business in the production sector fell short of expectations. Segment result declined in the first half of the year from EUR 6.6 million to EUR 3.6 million, caused by higher cost of materials and licenses (primarily for the UEFA Europa League).

- After six months, sales in the Segment Film of EUR 161.4 million significantly exceeded previous year's figure of EUR 97.1 million as expected (+66.2 percent), primarily driven by the areas license trading and home entertainment. But - as expected - this was offset by high amortization on film assets, in particular relating to the exploitation of the international production "Shadowhunters". Subsequently, segment result stood almost unchanged at EUR -0.4 million after six months.

- Segment Sports- and Event-Marketing with the marketing company TEAM increased the six-months sales 2016 by 28.2 percent to EUR 26.8 million (HY1 2015: EUR 20.9 million). The growth is a result of the successful marketing of the UEFA club competitions for the 2015/16 and 2017/18 seasons. Segment result disproportionately increased by 34.2 percent from EUR 7.9 million to EUR 10.6 million.

Outlook
For the 2016 full year, the Management Board is currently still assuming Group sales ranging between EUR 550 million and EUR 590 million. Group EBIT, which has been a further key performance indicator since the first quarter 2016, continues to be expected between EUR 29 million and EUR 33 million. Constantin Medien is still anticipating earnings attributable to shareholders in a range of EUR 6 million to EUR 9 million.
