On July 3, 2018 Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, S.A. ("CAF"), a multinational group with over 100 years of experience in the supply of comprehensive transit solutions positioned at the forefront of technology for high value added sustainable mobility, announced its strategic investment in Solaris Bus & Coach S.A.

Solaris, established in 1996, is a global supplier of conventional and electric buses with presence in over 600 cities in 32 countries. With an annual turnover of close to EUR 450 million, it has two production plants in Poland in the cities of Bolechowo and Sroda, and a workforce of more than 2,300 people.

The completion of the transaction is subject to the approval of the relevant Polish and German competition authorities and other customary conditions.

The basis of the successful sales process has been the established cooperation between Willkie and its Polish partner firm Sołtysiński Kawecki & Szlęzak ("SK&S").

The Willkie team was led by Dr. Maximilian Schwab and Mario Schmidt (both Corporate, Frankfurt) and included partners Patrick Meiisel (Tax, Frankfurt) and Susanne Zuehlke (Antitrust and Competition, Brussels/ Frankfurt), and associates: Matthias Schudlo, Lukas Nein and Dr. Andreas Sandberger (all Corporate, Frankfurt).
